Slav Apple Cake
My Aunt gave my mother this recipe years ago and we have been making it ever since. This is loved by my family and a great way to get the kids to eat apples without them knowing 🙂
4 Large apples (grated skin and all)
3/4 cups chopped Almonds
1.5 cups Sugar
3.25 cups Self Raising Flour
1 T-spoon Bi-Carbonate Soda
1 Tablespoon Cocoa
1 Cup Olive Oil
Mix all the dry ingredients together and thoroughly combine. Grate the apple, the finer the better.
Combine the apple and the oil.
Combine both lots of ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Grease the tin well. 10-12 inch tins are better for this cake.
Smooth out the cake and decorate with Almonds.
Bake for 1 hour or until the skewer comes out clean.
Allow to cool before turning out from the tin.
Plate and serve. Awesome for high tea and especially with coffee !!
